Nitro Pro

Editing PDF files is not possible with basic tools. The free Adobe PDF Reader comes with a few advanced features, but you have to pay for them. Nitro Pro offers a cheaper and better solution. You can use this program to carry out numerous operations, from inserting text or other objects to performing OCR scans. It is an excellent alternative to the Adobe PDF Reader and you can set it as your default PDF viewer.

For the moment, Nitro Pro is available exclusively for 32 and 64-bit Windows platforms. The software's setup file is only 1.38 MB and it does not take long to install its components on your computer. Its system requirements are modest, so you can run it even on older machines.

Nitro Pro's user interface has a familiar layout and its options are easy to understand. All important functions are organized on several ribbon menus, just like in a modern MS Office application. The software also allows you to open multiple PDF documents on the same window, on separate tabs.

With the available options, you can select, move and resize objects, insert images, text and other items and more. In many cases, you can also edit a document's text. If you import a new document from a scanner, you may start an OCR scan and make the text selectable, searchable and editable. Certain actions can be performed on the pages themselves. For example, you can rotate or crop pages, extract them, replace them with pages from another document and more. It is also possible to merge or split documents and convert them to Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Powerpoint slides, images and more.

A series of security features are available as well. You can password protect the entire document or restrict certain features, like copying, editing or printing contents. Furthermore, Nitro Pro allows you to create, manage and assign digital certificates. Another possibility is to create and assign IDs, if you wish to allow only trusted users to open your documents.
